Where it came from
Het Afzien Van is a notable small-press zine series originating from the Netherlands, established to document the intersections of graphic design, subculture, and personal visual archives. The project serves as an experimental platform for curators to explore themes of endurance, labor, and aesthetic accumulation, often utilizing a DIY, lo-fi printing aesthetic that champions raw expression over polished commercial design.
Issue #6 continues the series' tradition of thematic curation, bringing together a collection of found ephemera and personal reflections that characterize the 'afzien'—the act of enduring or suffering through a process—in a creative context. The design focuses on tactile paper choices and unorthodox layouts, prioritizing a visceral reading experience that reflects the collaborative and often transient nature of its contributors' artistic visions.
