Hex #11

Hex #11 was published by DC Comics in 1986 as part of the Hex series, a radical reinvention of the classic Jonah Hex character. Set in a post-apocalyptic version of the 21st century, the series saw the bounty hunter displaced from the Old West into a bleak, dystopian future. This narrative shift was spearheaded by writer Michael Fleisher, who had long defined the character, and artist Mark Texeira, whose gritty, moody aesthetic was intended to mirror the harsh, desolate atmosphere of the title's new setting.

The series emerged during a period of experimentation within the industry, as DC Comics sought to explore darker, more mature thematic territory. Despite the bold premise, the series struggled to find a consistent audience among readers accustomed to traditional Western settings. Hex #11 remains a notable entry for its stylistic commitment to the surreal and gritty aesthetic of mid-80s dark fantasy, representing a singular creative gamble that stands as a curiosity in the broader history of Jonah Hex's publishing legacy.
