Hope You’re Happy, Lemon #3

Hope You’re Happy, Lemon is a self-published independent comic series created by artist and writer George Wylesol. Emerging from the vibrant and experimental landscape of contemporary underground comics, the series serves as a showcase for Wylesol’s signature surrealist aesthetic and his interest in disjointed, moody storytelling. The third issue continues the series' exploration of isolation and malaise, characterized by an off-kilter color palette and a digital illustration style that feels intentionally disconnected from traditional comic norms.

The design of the issue prioritizes a distinct visual rhythm, favoring dreamlike pacing over conventional narrative structures. Wylesol’s approach is often described as an investigation into existential boredom and the strange, mundane horrors of modern life. Upon its release, the work was received by the indie comics community as a notable example of risograph printing and DIY bookmaking, valued more for its atmospheric artistic vision than for its adherence to serial comic conventions.
