If Destruction Be Our Lot #1

If Destruction Be Our Lot #1 was published as a limited comic book project designed to explore themes of apocalyptic survival and sociopolitical collapse. The series was conceptualized during a period of heightened interest in dystopian fiction within the independent comics market, aiming to provide a grounded, gritty alternative to the more stylized superhero narratives prevalent at the time. The creative team focused on atmospheric storytelling, utilizing minimalist aesthetics to emphasize the isolation of the protagonists in a crumbling environment.

The reception of the first issue was characterized by interest from enthusiasts of underground comics who appreciated its stark visual tone and deliberate narrative pacing. While it occupies a niche space within the medium, the design choices—specifically the use of high-contrast line work and desaturated color palettes—were intended to evoke a sense of urgency and hopelessness that mirrored the thematic concerns of the series. It remains a representative example of how independent creators utilized the format to address complex existential questions.
