Where it came from
Il Giornalino is a long-running Italian weekly magazine founded in 1924 by the Society of St. Paul. It was created with the intent to provide educational and moral guidance to youth through a mix of religious instruction, news, and serialized comics. Over the decades, it became a cornerstone of Italian children's literature, maintaining a distinct editorial voice that balanced traditional values with high-quality artistic contributions.
The publication became known for nurturing prominent Italian comic artists and illustrators, often serving as a training ground for talent that would later influence the broader medium. Issue number 28 of the 89th volume reflects the magazine's established format during its later years, featuring a curated selection of strips and articles designed to engage a young audience. Its design aesthetic has historically been characterized by clean, accessible layouts that prioritize narrative clarity, a style that garnered the magazine significant longevity and a loyal readership across generations.
