Il Segno di Zorro #v. 6 no. 4

Il Segno di Zorro was a long-running Italian comic book series published by Edizioni Audace, later known as Bonelli, during the mid-20th century. The series focused on the swashbuckling adventures of the eponymous masked hero, building upon the established pulp legacy of Johnston McCulley’s character. These publications were central to the post-war Italian fascination with American heroic archetypes, translated into the serialized, inexpensive format favored by young readers of the era.

The visual identity of these issues was characterized by the distinct, dynamic aesthetic of the Italian Fumetti tradition. Artists associated with the Audace stable utilized high-contrast black and white illustrations to capture the tension and kinetic action required for Zorro’s exploits. While individual issue credits were often secondary to the house style of the publisher, the work was generally received as a staple of adventurous escapism, cementing the character's enduring popularity within the Mediterranean literary landscape.
