Illustrerade klassiker #5

Illustrerade klassiker number 5, featuring an adaptation of The Last of the Mohicans, was part of the Swedish-language version of the American comic book series Classics Illustrated. Published in 1956, this series sought to promote literacy and introduce young readers to literary canon through sequential art, a mission that resonated deeply in the mid-century Scandinavian market.

The Swedish editions were produced by Williams Förlag, who adapted the original American interior art while often commissioning new, vibrant covers that emphasized a classic adventure aesthetic. This specific issue reflects the editorial focus on high-stakes historical narratives and was generally well-received by parents and educators of the era, who viewed the series as a bridge between popular entertainment and traditional literature.
