Where it came from
Im Kopf von Sherlock Holmes, titled L'Esprit de Sherlock Holmes in its original French, is a graphic novel series written by Cyril Lieron and illustrated by Benoit Dahan. The project emerged from a desire to visualize the cognitive processes of Arthur Conan Doyle’s iconic detective, utilizing intricate layouts and die-cut pages to represent the complex, often chaotic internal landscape of Holmes's mind as he navigates the streets of Victorian London.
The second installment continues the narrative arc initiated in the first volume, further establishing the series' reputation for its ambitious page architecture and stylistic homage to the era. Benoit Dahan’s illustrations were specifically crafted to mirror the deductive patterns of the protagonist, blending surrealism with period-accurate detail. The series has been received as a creative departure from traditional mystery adaptations, garnering attention for its innovative storytelling format rather than a standard linear progression.
