Itsumo Baka ni Shitekuru Bishōjo-tachi to Zetsuen Shitara, Jitsu wa Ore no Koto ga Daisuki Datta Yōda. #1

This light novel series originated as a popular web novel on the Japanese self-publishing platform Kakuyomu before being acquired for physical publication by Kadokawa under their Sneaker Bunko imprint. Debuting in 2022, the first volume was penned by author Natsuya Semikawa and features illustrations by the artist sune. The series emerged during a period of sustained market interest in romantic comedy light novels centered on interpersonal misunderstandings and dramatic shifts in social dynamics within school settings.

The design and aesthetic of the first volume lean heavily into the contemporary light novel visual style, utilizing vibrant character portraits intended to appeal to fans of the character-driven rom-com subgenre. By focusing on a protagonist who chooses to distance himself from a group of classmates who regularly mocked him, the narrative attempts to subvert common tropes of the genre. Upon its release, the volume garnered attention from readers familiar with the web serialization, helping to establish the series as a notable entry in its category.
