Jojo-ui Gimyohan Moheom #1

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, or Jojo-ui Gimyohan Moheom, debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1987. Created by Hirohiko Araki, the series was designed to distinguish itself from the dominant action manga of the era through a unique aesthetic influenced by Western fashion, classical art, and post-modern storytelling. Araki utilized his distinctive, muscular character designs and bold panel layouts to set the tone for what would become a generational epic spanning multiple familial lineages.

The first issue introduced the protagonist Jonathan Joestar and established the foundation of the series' supernatural power system. Critics and readers at the time noted the work for its gothic sensibilities and high-stakes narrative style, which marked a departure from the typical tournament-focused manga of the eighties. This opening chapter cemented the framework for the series' long-running success and its reputation as a genre-defying pillar of modern manga.
