Justice League America #62

Published in May 1992, Justice League America #62 serves as a pivotal installment in the 'Breakdowns' crossover event. Written by Dan Jurgens and Keith Giffen with artwork by Dan Jurgens and Rick Burchett, the issue was released during a period when the Justice League series was shifting toward a more serious, high-stakes tone. This particular story arc was designed to dismantle the team's status quo, leading to intense internal conflict and the eventual resignation of several long-standing members.

The narrative focuses on the fallout of Max Lord's manipulation and the external threats looming over the team, reflecting the early 1990s trend of deconstructive superhero storytelling. The cover and interior art utilize the bold, dynamic lines characteristic of the era's house style. Critically, the issue is remembered for its role in pushing the Justice League toward the darker, more volatile characterizations that defined DC Comics' editorial direction in the years following the massive shifts of the late 1980s.
