Justice League America #65

Justice League America #65, published in August 1992, serves as the conclusion to the 'Breakdowns' storyline, a pivotal crossover event that spanned both Justice League America and Justice League Europe. This narrative arc was intended to dismantle the team's status quo, orchestrated by writers Dan Jurgens and Keith Giffen with artists Dan Jurgens and Russell Braun. The story explored the disintegration of the United Nations-sanctioned Justice League, marked by internal friction, betrayal, and the resignation of key members.

The issue is noted for its dramatic shift in tone, moving away from the comedic sensibilities of the Giffen and DeMatteis era toward a more serious, high-stakes aesthetic that reflected the trends of 1990s superhero comics. Its design and plot were received as a definitive end to a long-running creative direction, setting the stage for the team's eventual restructuring and the arrival of new creative teams. The cover, featuring striking imagery by Dan Jurgens, captures the turmoil of the team's unraveling during this era of DC Comics history.
