Justice League America #66

Published in 1992, Justice League America #66 arrived during a transitional era for the DC Universe, arriving shortly before the monumental 'Death of Superman' event reshaped the publisher's continuity. This issue was part of a creative period that leaned into the established team dynamics of the 1980s and early 1990s Justice League, often characterized by a blend of high-stakes superhero action and the character-driven interpersonal conflicts championed by writers like Dan Jurgens.

The issue features artwork by Dan Jurgens, who provided both writing and illustration duties during this tenure, balancing the heavy editorial demands of a flagship team book. Jurgens, known for his definitive work on Superman, focused on maintaining a cohesive aesthetic for the ensemble cast. The title was received by readers of the time as a standard installment in a long-running series, serving as a functional piece of the larger puzzle that preceded the radical tonal shifts DC would undergo in the mid-1990s.
