Justice League America #75

Published in May 1993, Justice League America #75 serves as a pivotal entry in the 'Death of Superman' aftermath, specifically concluding the 'Funeral for a Friend' story arc. Written by Dan Jurgens with art by Dan Jurgens and Rick Burchett, the issue was produced during a period of high-intensity editorial shifts at DC Comics, aiming to explore the emotional fallout of Superman's demise and its profound impact on the collective identity of the Justice League. The cover features a stark, mourning-focused aesthetic that underscored the gravity of the DC Universe's loss at the time.

The creative direction for this issue was deeply rooted in the era's trend toward dramatic, character-driven storytelling, moving away from the more traditional superhero team-up dynamics of the late 1980s. Dan Jurgens, who was heavily involved in shaping the Superman mythos during the early 90s, utilized this issue to bridge the gap between the chaotic events of the 'Death' arc and the subsequent 'Reign of the Supermen' storyline. It remains a notable example of how major crossovers were integrated into long-running series to maintain narrative cohesion across the publisher's titles.
