Justice League America #86

Justice League America #86 was published in April 1994 during a transitional period for the title following the conclusion of the long-running Justice League International era. This issue serves as a mid-point in the 'Judgment Day' storyline, which focused on the team grappling with the aftermath of the team's ongoing geopolitical struggles and the shifting nature of their heroic mandates during the gritty landscape of 1990s comics.

The issue was written by Dan Vado with interior art by Marc Campos. The creative team aimed to maintain the high-stakes narrative pacing that defined DC's output during this decade, focusing on the character dynamics between members like Wonder Woman and Maxima. While the series at this time faced the challenge of competing with the darker, more visceral tone established by titles like Image Comics, the creative work aimed to balance traditional superhero archetypes with the more cynical editorial atmosphere of the mid-nineties.
