Justice League Europe #48

Justice League Europe #48, published in March 1993, arrived toward the end of the series' run as part of the broader Justice League franchise expansion overseen by DC Comics. During this era, the creative team navigated shifting editorial directives following the monumental events of the 'Death of Superman' storyline, which profoundly impacted the entire DC universe and its ongoing titles. This issue served as a penultimate installment, helping to conclude the narrative arcs that had been developed for the European-based team since the book's inception in 1989.

The issue features artwork by Christopher Taylor and continues the narrative written by Gerard Jones, who took over the title to steer it through its final chapters. The series was initially conceived to provide a more international flavor to the Justice League brand, leaning into character-driven drama and political intrigue rather than standard superhero fare. By issue #48, the title was experiencing the typical fatigue associated with long-running team books of the early 1990s, though it remains a notable piece of the 90s DC landscape for fans of the specific rotating cast of European-based heroes.
