Ka-Zar #16

Ka-Zar number 16 was published in 1975 as part of the Savage Tales-derived series focused on the lord of the Savage Land. During this era of Marvel Comics, the title often explored themes of pulp adventure mixed with the internal conflict of an outsider navigating the modern world, leaning heavily into the high-adventure aesthetic popularized by artists like John Buscema and various inkers who defined the look of the jungle setting.

The issue features work from the creative team of Doug Moench and Val Mayerik, who were tasked with maintaining the momentum of the character's solo run during a competitive period for sword-and-sorcery and adventure comics. It is regarded by collectors as a representative example of 1970s bronze-age storytelling, appreciated more for its atmospheric world-building and character consistency than for significant shifts in the overarching Marvel canon.
