Ka-Zar #18

Ka-Zar #18 was published in September 1982 as part of the Savage Land adventures for Marvel Comics' jungle-based hero. This era of the series was crafted under the editorial eye of Marvel during a time when the character sought to transition from a secondary feature in other titles to a standalone protagonist, reflecting the publisher's push to diversify its supernatural and jungle-adventure offerings.

The issue features work by writer Bruce Jones and artist Brent Anderson, who are celebrated for their grounded, atmospheric approach to the character. They moved away from the more hyperbolic pulp stylings of earlier iterations, aiming instead for a sense of gritty realism and psychological depth within the prehistoric setting of the Savage Land. The creative team's approach was generally well-received by fans of the period, who appreciated the narrative consistency and the moody, textured visual storytelling that set it apart from typical superhero fare of the early 1980s.
