Kabushikigaisha Kamikakushi #10

Kabushikigaisha Kamikakushi, known in English as Corporate Spiriting Away, emerged in the late 20th century as a niche manga series reflecting the anxieties of Japan's post-bubble economic climate. The narrative centers on the uncanny and often surreal disappearance of employees within a hyper-bureaucratic corporate environment, serving as a dark, satirical commentary on the crushing pressures of salaryman culture.

Issue number 10 is representative of the series' mid-run tonal shift, where the art style—typically characterized by sharp, angular line work—begins to lean heavily into psychological horror elements. The creator sought to blend grounded office realism with elements of folklore-inspired displacement, a choice that resonated with readers drawn to the burgeoning genre of social-critique horror during that period.
