Kami-sama no Volley #40

Kami-sama no Volley, written by Yuji Uzaki and illustrated by Jin Kagura, began its serialization in the seinen manga magazine Manga Goraku. The series follows the narrative of a middle-aged protagonist who takes on the role of a volleyball coach, using his unique perspective to guide a team. Issue 40 serves as a late-stage installment in this long-running sports drama, which is noted for its grounded take on coaching dynamics and team management rather than the exaggerated supernatural tropes common in some sports manga.

The visual style, characterized by Jin Kagura, emphasizes the technical nuances of the sport and the intense emotional expressions of the players. As the series progressed into its later volumes, the focus remained on the character development of the protagonist, often receiving praise from readers for its dedication to the tactical realities of volleyball. It remains a notable title within the Nihon Bungeisha library, reflecting a specific niche of seinen sports storytelling that prioritizes psychological growth alongside athletic competition.
