Where it came from
Kimochi Warui Kara Kimi ga Suki, or 'I Like You Because You're Gross,' is a distinctive manga series that emerged from the Japanese alternative comics scene, reflecting a specific interest in transgressive themes and psychological complexity. The second volume continues the narrative exploration of unconventional romantic dynamics and the friction between self-perception and external judgment that defined the series' initial release.
The series is noted for its raw, evocative visual style, which leans into the aesthetic of character-driven indie manga. By focusing on the uncomfortable realities of interpersonal relationships, the creator sought to challenge mainstream genre conventions, positioning the work as a polarizing but respected piece of modern underground literature among readers interested in darker, character-focused storytelling.
