Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo #202

Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo, colloquially known as Kochikame, began its serialized run in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1976. Created by Osamu Akimoto, the series depicts the daily life of Kankichi Ryotsu, a middle-aged police officer stationed at a suburban Tokyo koban. It holds a significant place in manga history as one of the longest-running series ever produced, acting as a cultural chronicle of Japanese social trends, technology, and humor spanning four decades.

Issue 202 is a landmark volume in the franchise, released in 2016 to coincide with the conclusion of the series after exactly 40 years of continuous publication. Designed to serve as the definitive final chapter, it features special commemorative content and reflects Akimoto’s consistent artistic evolution. The release was met with widespread national attention in Japan, celebrated by both the publisher and fans as the end of an era for Shonen Jump, cementing its legacy as a cornerstone of Japanese popular culture.
