Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo #203

Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo, often abbreviated as Kochikame, was a staple of Weekly Shonen Jump, created by Osamu Akimoto. Debuting in 1976, the series followed the comedic escapades of the middle-aged police officer Kankichi Ryotsu in a local station in Tokyo. Its longevity made it a foundational piece of Japanese manga culture, evolving from simple gag strips into a series that frequently commented on changing societal trends and technology.

Issue number 203 holds a distinct place in publishing history as the final installment of the series. Released in September 2016, it marked the conclusion of a forty-year run, coinciding with the fortieth anniversary of the manga's serialization. Osamu Akimoto aimed to end the long-running saga on his own terms, and the release was met with immense sentimentality, effectively serving as a cultural landmark for readers who had followed Ryotsu's exploits for decades.
