Kusuri no Mamono no Kaiko Riyū #1

Kusuri no Mamono no Kaiko Riyū, or The Reason the Medicinal Monster Was Fired, debuted as a light novel series written by Kitsune Kou and illustrated by Munashichi. The story belongs to a popular subgenre of Japanese fantasy that focuses on workplace dynamics and the re-evaluation of professional worth through a supernatural lens. It follows a protagonist tasked with managing magical creatures, exploring themes of exploitation and the search for a healthier career path within a fantastical corporate hierarchy.

The character designs by Munashichi are noted for their ethereal, slightly melancholic aesthetic, which helps distinguish the work from more high-octane action series. The first volume serves as an introduction to this whimsical yet grounded world, establishing the tone of the series as a character-driven narrative. Since its publication, the series has been received as a thoughtful entry in the 'isekai' and workplace fantasy categories, appreciated by readers for its focus on emotional growth and organizational friction rather than traditional battle-heavy tropes.
