Where it came from
La Bruja del Castillo de los Cardos was a short-lived horror and fantasy comic series produced in Argentina during the mid-1970s. This series emerged during a period of significant activity in the Argentine publishing industry, which was heavily influenced by the tradition of 'historieta' and imported aesthetic styles from European and American pulp magazines. The publication focused on atmospheric storytelling, weaving elements of folklore and Gothic mystery that were popular among readers of regional suspense anthologies at the time.
The series relied on a rotating team of local illustrators and writers who sought to blend traditional supernatural tropes with gritty, detailed line work. The second issue continued the narrative trajectory established in the premiere, maintaining a consistent stylistic approach designed to appeal to adolescent and adult fans of serialized mystery fiction. While the series remains a niche interest today, it is regarded by enthusiasts of vintage South American comics as a distinct example of the era's commitment to dark, visually driven episodic storytelling.
