La Zorra y el Cuervo #103

La Zorra y el Cuervo was a prominent Cuban satirical and humor magazine that began publication in the mid-1960s, serving as a primary platform for political commentary, social satire, and comic strips. Influenced by the broader tradition of Latin American graphic humor, the publication provided a necessary outlet for artists to critique bureaucratic challenges and societal norms through a lens of wit and caricature, often under the guidance of the Union of Journalists of Cuba.

Issue 103 belongs to a period when the magazine had solidified its distinct aesthetic, characterized by bold, minimalist linework and sharp, irony-laden storytelling that resonated deeply with the Cuban public. The creative direction was heavily influenced by the work of artists such as Manuel Hevia and Virgilio Martínez, who sought to blend accessible humor with biting social critique. The issue remains a significant artifact for collectors of mid-century Latin American press, documenting the evolving visual language of political cartooning during that era.
