Legend of the Hawkman #2

Legend of the Hawkman, published by DC Comics in 2000, was a three-issue prestige format miniseries intended to bridge the narrative gap between the Golden Age and the Silver Age versions of the character. Written by Walter Simonson and illustrated by Richard Howell, the series sought to reconcile the disparate origins of Carter Hall, emphasizing the archaeological roots and mythological elements that defined his history. The creative team aimed for a tone that felt respectful of the character's long legacy while providing a cohesive modern interpretation for contemporary readers.

The artwork by Richard Howell focused on a dynamic, classic aesthetic that mirrored the pulp-adventure origins of Hawkman. By exploring the connection between the Thanagarian heritage and the Egyptian curse, the series addressed lingering continuity questions that had persisted for years. Upon its release, the project was well-received by fans of Hawkman's history, who appreciated the effort to provide structural clarity to the character's often complex and shifting backstories.
