Legion of Super-Heroes #61

Legion of Super-Heroes #61 was published in August 1994 as part of the Post-Zero Hour era of DC Comics. Following the massive continuity reset of the Zero Hour event, the Legion series underwent significant thematic and narrative shifts to modernize the characters for a new generation of readers. This specific issue reflects the editorial push to realign the team's complex history and establish a more grounded, militaristic tone for the future setting of the 30th century.

The issue features cover art and interior contributions typical of the mid-90s DC house style, emphasizing the grim and gritty aesthetic prevalent in the industry at the time. Tom McCraw served as the writer during this transition, aiming to navigate the fallout of the reboot while managing the massive roster of heroes. The creative direction faced a mixed reception from long-term fans who were adjusting to the departure from the Silver Age roots, yet it remains a notable snapshot of how comic book publishers attempted to streamline continuity in the nineties.
