Lone Wolf and Cub #10

Lone Wolf and Cub #10 is a pivotal installment in the seminal gekiga manga series written by Kazuo Koike and illustrated by Goseki Kojima. Originally serialized in Japan during the early 1970s, the series follows Ogami Ittō, the disgraced executioner for the Shogun, as he travels the countryside with his infant son, Daigoro, seeking vengeance against the Yagyu clan. The tenth issue continues the series' signature blend of historical samurai drama, philosophical inquiry, and visceral action, reflecting the collaborative synergy between Koike's intricate storytelling and Kojima's stark, ink-heavy brushwork.

The aesthetic of the series was heavily influenced by traditional Japanese calligraphy and ukiyo-e woodblock prints, which Kojima utilized to create a dynamic sense of motion and atmosphere. During its initial publication, the series significantly shifted the perception of manga in Japan, moving it toward more mature, auteur-driven narratives. It has since become a cornerstone of global manga culture, widely praised for its uncompromising depiction of the bushido code and its influence on later cinematic and literary works concerning the ronin archetype.
