Lucky Lukes Äventyr #38

Lucky Lukes Äventyr number 38, titled 'En cowboy i fara' (originally 'Lucky Luke contre Pinkerton'), was released as part of the long-running Lucky Luke series created by the Belgian cartoonist Maurice de Bevere, known as Morris. The story was written by Daniel Pennac and Tonino Benacquista, marking a transition in the series where the iconic cowboy, created in 1946, encountered historical figures like Allan Pinkerton. The narrative follows the formation of the first private detective agency in the United States and highlights the satirical, lighthearted approach to the American Old West that has defined the series for decades.

The visual design of this volume adheres to the classic Franco-Belgian 'ligne claire' aesthetic that Morris established. The character design is characterized by expressive, rounded features and fluid action sequences, which were intended to be accessible to a wide audience while maintaining a distinct comedic tone. Upon its publication, the volume was received as a respectful continuation of the franchise’s tradition, praised for integrating historical elements into the established slapstick framework that had made the series a pillar of European comics since the mid-20th century.
