Mahō Shōjo Madoka☆Magica: 4koma Anthology Comic #3

The Mahō Shōjo Madoka☆Magica 4koma Anthology series was published in the wake of the 2011 anime's massive cultural impact. These collections were commissioned to capitalize on the show's dark deconstruction of the magical girl genre by providing a lighter, comedic counterpoint. The third volume, like its predecessors, gathers short-form strips from various manga artists, focusing on character interactions that lean into the whimsical or absurd aspects of the series' cast.

The design of these anthologies adheres to standard Japanese manga industry practices for spin-off content, utilizing a variety of artistic styles to reinterpret characters like Madoka Kaname and Homura Akemi. By allowing multiple illustrators to contribute, the publishers aimed to showcase the versatility of the franchise's character designs. The collection was received by fans as a supplementary way to engage with the property, serving as a humorous palate cleanser following the intense emotional weight of the original animated production.
