Mahō Shōjo Madoka☆Magica: Anthology Comic #1

Released in 2011, this anthology comic served as an official tie-in to the critically acclaimed Mahō Shōjo Madoka☆Magica anime series. Following the show's subversion of the magical girl genre, the anthology was commissioned by Houbunsha to expand the franchise's footprint during its initial peak of popularity. It brought together a diverse group of manga artists to offer their own reinterpretations and comedic takes on the characters, helping to sustain fan engagement between official production cycles.

The volume features a collection of short-form vignettes designed to explore the lighter side of a notoriously dark narrative. The editorial approach emphasized stylistic variety, showcasing the visual range of contributors like Hanokage and various other creators associated with the Manga Time Kirara imprint. Upon its release, it was well-received by the existing fan base for providing a more whimsical, low-stakes perspective on the protagonists, effectively bridging the gap between the show's heavy thematic elements and the desire for more character-driven slice-of-life content.
