Maō Tōbatsu Shita Ato, Medachitakunai node Guild Master ni Natta #1

Maō Tōbatsu Shita Ato, Medachitakunai node Guild Master ni Natta, or After Defeating the Demon King, I Became a Guild Master to Avoid the Spotlight, originated as a light novel series written by Gesu-no-Kiwami before being adapted into a manga version. The first volume of the manga adaptation, illustrated by artist Kōichi Kusano, was published to capitalize on the popularity of the 'isekai' genre, specifically subverting the trope of the all-powerful hero seeking fame by portraying a protagonist who desires a quiet, administrative life.

The character design and visual direction aim for a balance between traditional fantasy adventure tropes and a grounded, slice-of-life aesthetic. Kōichi Kusano’s illustrations focus on expressive, lighthearted character interactions, which helped distinguish the series from darker, more action-heavy fantasy titles. Upon its release, the volume was received as a humorous, low-stakes entry in the fantasy market, finding an audience among readers who appreciate comedic management-focused narratives.
