Marvel Tales Starring Spider-Man #179

Marvel Tales was a long-running anthology series published by Marvel Comics, primarily serving as a vehicle to reprint classic Spider-Man stories for a new generation of readers. Issue 179, released in September 1985, specifically featured a reprint of 'The Amazing Spider-Man' #179, originally published in 1978. This practice allowed Marvel to maintain interest in iconic story arcs while providing affordable access to material that had long since left newsstands.

The 1978 original story featured the work of writer Len Wein and artist Ross Andru, a definitive creative pairing for the character during the late 1970s. Andru’s dynamic, energetic pencils were highly regarded for their sense of movement and scale, capturing the quintessential struggle of Peter Parker. By the mid-1980s, these reprints were viewed as essential historical documents, appreciated by fans for their nostalgic value and the enduring quality of the Silver and Bronze Age narratives.
