Marvel Team-Up #107

Marvel Team-Up #107, published in July 1981, emerged during a transitional period for the series, which traditionally functioned as a vehicle to pair Spider-Man with various characters from across the Marvel Universe. By this point in the series' run, the title had become a staple for showcasing secondary characters alongside the company's flagship hero, helping to maintain cohesion in an expanding fictional landscape while testing the popularity of guest stars.

The issue features artwork by Herb Trimpe, a veteran illustrator whose kinetic style defined much of the 'Hulk' run in the 1970s, paired with a script by J.M. DeMatteis. The narrative reflects the character-driven storytelling approach that defined early 1980s Marvel, focusing on the dynamic between Spider-Man and the guest star, Red Sonja. The creative team aimed to blend sword-and-sorcery fantasy elements with the standard superhero genre, a creative challenge that remained a hallmark of the title's unique team-up format.
