Mister Miracle #7

Mister Miracle #7, published in 1972, stands as a pivotal installment in Jack Kirby’s sprawling Fourth World saga. Conceived during Kirby's move to DC Comics, the series centered on Scott Free, an escape artist who fled the nightmarish planet Apokolips. This specific issue continues the high-stakes narrative of the New Gods, showcasing Kirby's signature fusion of cosmic mythology and kinetic, action-oriented storytelling that defined his influential aesthetic during this creative period.

The visual design of the series reflects Kirby’s transition toward denser, more experimental layouts. By issue seven, the character dynamics between Mister Miracle, Big Barda, and the recurring antagonist Granny Goodness were firmly established, reflecting Kirby's intent to explore themes of freedom and tyranny through the lens of superhero tropes. The issue was received as a testament to Kirby’s unparalleled output during the early 1970s, marking a high point in the expansion of DC’s cosmic continuity.
