Nakke Nakuttaja #195502

Nakke Nakuttaja, the Finnish translation of the long-running Woody Woodpecker comic series, was published by Valiolehdet starting in the early 1950s. This specific issue, numbered 195502, was released in February 1955 during a period when the character had achieved significant cultural penetration in Nordic markets through both theatrical shorts and print media. The series functioned as a vehicle for translating American animation-based comics for a Finnish audience, maintaining the chaotic, slapstick persona of Walter Lantz's famous woodpecker while adapting the storytelling style to suit European readers.

The design of these early issues relied on established templates from Western Publishing’s Four Color series and other Dell Comics imprints, which licensed the material internationally. The illustrations were produced by artists within the Lantz studio system, often featuring the clean, bold line work characteristic of mid-century American funny-animal comics. At the time of its release, the comic was received as lighthearted, accessible entertainment for youth, mirroring the broader post-war trend of exporting American popular culture through serialized illustrated stories.
