Where it came from
Naru-Thunder #2 emerged during the mid-2000s surge of international interest in independent manga-inspired comic series. Published as part of a creator-driven wave that sought to blend traditional Japanese stylistic tropes with Western serial storytelling, the series was designed to appeal to a demographic interested in fast-paced action sequences and evolving fantasy character tropes.
The visual identity of the series was defined by dynamic, high-contrast line work intended to emphasize movement and kinetic energy. Upon release, the second issue was noted for its attempt to broaden the series' world-building, though it largely remained a niche title within the broader landscape of small-press comics, serving as a snapshot of the experimental fusion styles prevalent in that era of independent publishing.
