Natsume-Senpai ni Semarareru Hibi #1

Natsume-Senpai ni Semarareru Hibi, written and illustrated by mangaka Keiko Iwashita, debuted as a shojo manga series in the pages of the Japanese monthly magazine Dessert. The narrative centers on the dynamic between a high school student and her upperclassman, leaning into the lighthearted, romantic tropes characteristic of the magazine’s contemporary catalog. Iwashita designed the characters to evoke a sense of youthful earnestness, focusing on expressive facial reactions and intimate classroom settings that resonated with readers looking for quintessential slice-of-life romance.

The first volume serves as an introduction to the series' central chemistry and established tone, marking Iwashita's continuation of her established style in the romance genre. Upon its release, the volume was received positively by fans of the publisher Kodansha’s shojo imprint, praised for its clean, modern art style and the steady pacing of its courtship-focused plot. It functions as a foundational entry for the series, setting the visual and emotional template for the chapters that followed in later publications.
