Nellie the Nurse #31

Nellie the Nurse was a long-running humor and romance comic title published by Marvel, appearing during the mid-twentieth century when the publisher was branching out from its Western and superhero roots into character-driven vignettes. Issue number 31 reflects the mid-series transition toward episodic lighthearted storytelling, featuring the titular character in various workplace scenarios that emphasized comedy and mild social satire characteristic of the era's light fiction.

The character and the series design leaned heavily into the popular 'career girl' comic archetypes of the 1940s and 1950s, characterized by bright, expressive art styles common to Marvel's romance line. While the specific creative teams for these niche humor titles often included a revolving group of staff artists and writers who prioritized accessibility and brevity, the series is now regarded as a nostalgic look at the aesthetic and tonal preferences of readers during the early post-war publishing landscape.
