Nellie the Nurse #24

Nellie the Nurse was a long-running humor series published by Timely Comics, the predecessor to Marvel Comics, beginning in the mid-1940s. The character originated during a period when lighthearted, gag-based comics featuring career-focused young women were a staple of the industry. This specific era of the title relied on slapstick humor and the romantic entanglements of the titular character as she navigated life in a hospital setting.

The art style of the series was characterized by the classic, expressive aesthetic common to mid-century humor comics. While the creative teams often rotated, the series remained a consistent presence in the Timely lineup for years, reflecting the publisher's strategy of diversifying beyond its successful superhero stable. Issue #24 represents a piece of the genre's enduring popularity during the post-war period, serving as a reflection of the era's light entertainment trends.
