New Thunderbolts #4

New Thunderbolts #4 was published in early 2005 as part of the relaunch of Marvel Comics’ long-running series featuring a team of reformed villains and anti-heroes. This iteration of the title, scripted by Fabian Nicieza with interior art by Tom Grummett, was designed to re-establish the group within the post-Avengers Disassembled Marvel Universe. The narrative sought to balance the team's questionable history with their new mandate to act as sanctioned peacekeepers.

The creative team focused on exploring the moral ambiguity of characters like Baron Zemo and Songbird, aiming for a grounded, political tone that reflected the consequences of the team's past actions. Grummett’s pencils emphasized character-driven expressions and clear, cinematic action sequences, which were largely praised by critics at the time for providing consistency to a series undergoing a significant shift in status quo.
