News from the Fallout #1

News from the Fallout #1 was produced in the mid-1990s as a promotional newsletter created by Interplay Productions to build anticipation for the release of the original Fallout role-playing game. Distributed primarily through retail channels and early gaming conventions, the publication served as an immersive introduction to the series' retro-futuristic, post-apocalyptic setting, helping to establish the distinct dark humor and aesthetic tone that would become a staple of the franchise.

The design of the newsletter mimicked the visual style of mid-century propaganda, utilizing fonts and layout elements that echoed the game’s core motifs. It was crafted by the original development team to provide lore and narrative context for players long before the term 'world-building' became a standard industry focus. Because it was intended as disposable marketing collateral rather than a formal publication, surviving copies in good condition are now highly sought after by collectors of computer game ephemera.
