New X-Men Modern Era Epic Collection: Planet X #1

The New X-Men Modern Era Epic Collection: Planet X volume serves as a comprehensive trade paperback gathering the concluding chapters of Grant Morrison’s transformative run on the X-Men franchise, originally published in the early 2000s. The series was designed to modernize the mutants for a post-9/11 cultural landscape, shifting away from spandex uniforms toward leather aesthetics and grounded, often surreal, psychological conflicts. This specific collection compiles the pivotal Planet X storyline, which serves as the cataclysmic finale to Morrison's era.

The interior art features the distinct, kinetic styles of artists such as Marc Silvestri, who returned to the title to illustrate these final installments. The design intent throughout this era was to emphasize a sharper, more cinematic visual language, distancing the characters from the traditional house style of the 1990s. While initially polarizing among some long-term readers due to its radical departures from established continuity and tone, the work is now frequently cited as a definitive touchstone of early 21st-century superhero storytelling.
