Nightwing #118

Nightwing #118 was published by DC Comics in June 2006 as part of the One Year Later event, which followed the company-wide Infinite Crisis crossover. This issue marks the beginning of a new chapter for Dick Grayson as he operates in New York City, attempting to rebuild his life and identity following the intense upheavals of the previous year's narrative arc. The story serves to ground the character in a gritty, urban environment, focusing on his personal struggle to balance his role as a hero with the loss of his long-standing connections to the wider superhero community.

Written by Bruce Jones with interior art by Joe Dodd and cover art by Mike McKone, the issue was designed to shift the tone of the series toward a more grounded, noir-inspired mystery. The aesthetic choices lean into the shadows of the city, emphasizing the isolation Grayson feels in his new surroundings. While the creative team sought to offer a fresh entry point for new readers, the issue was received as a transitional installment that prioritizes building tension and atmosphere over the high-octane spectacle typical of the franchise's earlier eras.
