Ninkyō Tensei: Isekai no Yakuza-Hime #20

Ninkyō Tensei: Isekai no Yakuza-Hime, authored by Makoto Hoshino and illustrated by Kousuke Hirose, began serialization in 2019 within the pages of Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan. The series revitalizes the subgenre of isekai by blending traditional yakuza storytelling—focusing on honor, loyalty, and the criminal underworld—with the fantastical elements of an alternate reality. By positioning a seasoned yakuza leader as the protagonist within a high-fantasy setting, the creators sought to subvert standard power-fantasy tropes, favoring character-driven drama and tactical intimidation over traditional magic systems.

Issue number 20 arrives as part of an established run that has gained moderate popularity for its unique genre fusion. The design work, characterized by Hirose's sharp, gritty character expressions and dynamic compositions, reflects a conscious effort to contrast the grounded, somber tone of yakuza cinema with the vibrant aesthetic of contemporary manga. The series has been generally received as a stylistic experiment that maintains a dedicated niche following due to its commitment to its specific narrative premise and consistent artistic quality.
