No Matter How I Look At It, It's You Guys' Fault I'm Not Popular! #27

No Matter How I Look At It, It's You Guys' Fault I'm Not Popular!, often referred to as Watamote, is a long-running manga series written and illustrated by Nico Tanigawa. The series debuted in 2011 and centers on Tomoko Kuroki, a socially anxious high school girl who navigates the complexities of teenage life with a mix of dark humor and genuine melancholy. The character design is rooted in the subculture of Japanese social isolation, or hikikomori, and the manga is noted for its ability to balance cringe-inducing comedy with moments of poignant character growth.

Issue number 27 refers to a specific chapter within the series' serialized run. As the manga evolved over the years, the narrative shifted from simple comedic vignettes about Tomoko's failed social interactions to a more complex, serialized story involving an expanding cast of characters. The art style, characterized by expressive facial distortions and a distinctively gritty take on school life, was crafted by the duo behind the Nico Tanigawa pseudonym to highlight the protagonist's internal instability and disconnect from her peers.
