Northstar #1

Northstar #1 was published in 1994 by Marvel Comics as a four-issue limited series focusing on the character Jean-Paul Beaubier. This title was born out of the X-Men franchise, specifically following the character's prominent and widely publicized coming-out reveal in Alpha Flight #106, which had occurred two years earlier. The series was designed to explore the hero's personal life and his ongoing navigation of identity within the broader Marvel Universe.

The creative direction for the series was handled by writer Simon Furman and artist Dario Carrasco Jr. Their approach aimed to balance high-stakes superhero action with the interpersonal drama of a character who had long been defined by his temperament and his status as an outsider. While the series did not fundamentally redefine the character, it remains a notable artifact of mid-nineties Marvel, representing the publisher's efforts to provide solo spotlights for established members of the Alpha Flight and X-Men rosters.
