Obnoxious Hero-kun: The Complete Collection #1

Obnoxious Hero-kun: The Complete Collection #1 serves as the inaugural volume of a niche meta-humor series that satirizes the archetypal tropes of shonen manga. Produced during a period of increased interest in deconstructive storytelling within independent comic circles, the series was created to parody the hyper-earnest nature of heroic protagonists by positioning its lead as deliberately grating and counter-productive to his own missions.

The character design was crafted to intentionally clash with traditional heroic aesthetics, utilizing exaggerated proportions and a palette that leans into visual dissonance to signal the character's unlikability. Upon its release, the work was received as a polarizing cult piece, praised by readers who appreciated the dry, cynical take on genre conventions but noted for its abrasive tone, which remained its primary defining characteristic throughout the publication run.
