One-Punch Man: Yī Quán Chāorén #22

Volume 22 of the One-Punch Man series, written by ONE and illustrated by Yusuke Murata, was released as part of an ongoing adaptation of the webcomic originally published in 2009. The series emerged from the Japanese seinen manga landscape, subverting traditional superhero tropes by focusing on a protagonist who has achieved ultimate power and subsequently struggles with the existential boredom that follows. This specific volume continues the intense action-oriented narrative of the Monster Association arc, maintaining the series' reputation for hyper-detailed, dynamic panel compositions that set a high bar for contemporary digital-era manga artistry.

Yusuke Murata’s design process for this installment relies on cinematic pacing and elaborate shading techniques that emphasize the scale of the battles depicted. When the series moved from a self-published web project to a serialized format, Murata’s involvement provided a polished, high-fidelity visual identity that appealed to both shonen and seinen readers. The volume was received favorably by critics for its balance of slapstick humor and gravity-defying combat sequences, solidifying its place as a cornerstone of the modern manga renaissance.
